Orthodontics in Beenleigh for teens and adults: metal, ceramic and lingual braces, plus clear aligners. Dr Tim Ng has a special interest in orthodontics.
What is orthodontics?
Orthodontics is treatment that moves teeth into a better position and helps the top and bottom teeth meet properly. Straighter teeth can be easier to clean, and fixing a bite can take strain off your teeth and jaw. We offer metal braces, ceramic (tooth-coloured) braces, lingual braces that sit behind the teeth, and clear aligners: a series of removable trays you change as directed and wear for most of the day. We don’t provide Invisalign, but we do offer other clear aligner systems that work in a similar way. Many people start in their teens, once most adult teeth are through, but adults can have treatment too. For some bites a specialist orthodontist is the better choice, and we’ll tell you if we think that’s the case. healthdirect has an overview of orthodontic treatment.

What to expect from orthodontics in Beenleigh

1. Assessment.
We look at your teeth, bite and jaw, and take X-rays and photos.

2. Your options.
We explain which braces or aligners suit you, how long treatment may take and the cost.

3. Treatment.
Regular check-ins to adjust braces or give you your next aligners.

4. Retainers.
Teeth tend to drift back, so you'll wear a retainer to hold them in place.
Cost and payment
The cost depends on the type of treatment and how long it takes, so we’ll give you a quote after your assessment. Some private health funds cover part of orthodontic treatment, so check your policy, and we claim on the spot with HICAPS. You can spread the cost with a payment plan or Afterpay, or ask whether SuperCare may be an option.
Frequently asked questions
Am I too old for braces?
Not usually. Adults’ teeth can move too, as long as the teeth and gums are healthy.
When should my child have an orthodontic check?
Bring it up at their regular check-up. We watch how adult teeth are coming through and will tell you if an assessment is worthwhile.
Do braces hurt?
Teeth often feel tender for a few days after braces go on or after an adjustment. Soft food and pain relief as directed usually help.
Do you offer Invisalign?
No. We offer other clear aligner systems that work in a similar way, and we’ll tell you whether aligners suit your teeth.
How long does treatment take?
It depends on how much your teeth need to move. We’ll give you an estimate at your assessment.
