Whitening uses a bleaching gel to lighten the shade of your teeth. We offer Pola Night take-home whitening, with custom trays made for your teeth. It's worn for 5 to 14 days. Some people get temporary sensitivity, and whitening doesn't change the colour of fillings, crowns or veneers. See teeth whitening.

You have options. As well as metal braces, we offer ceramic (tooth-coloured) braces, lingual braces that sit behind the teeth, and clear aligners for suitable cases. See orthodontics.

We can replace old silver (amalgam) fillings with tooth-coloured composite resin fillings, usually in one visit. Replacing a filling that's still sound isn't always recommended, so we'll check each one first. See amalgam replacement.

Twinkles are small gold or silver jewels, some set with coloured gems, that are bonded to the surface of a tooth, usually a front tooth. They can be removed at any time.

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone to support a replacement tooth, a bridge or a denture. Implants aren't suitable for everyone, and they involve surgery, so we'll assess your gums and bone first. See dental implants.

A crown covers and protects a tooth that's cracked, worn or heavily filled. A bridge replaces a missing tooth by attaching a false tooth to crowns on the teeth either side of the gap. See crowns and bridges.

Depending on the tooth, a tooth-coloured filling, a crown or a porcelain veneer may help. A veneer is a thin shell bonded to the front of the tooth. It involves removing some enamel, so it can't be undone. We'll talk you through the options. See veneers.

Pain and swelling can be signs of an infected tooth or abscess. Call us on (07) 3287 5390, because we keep time free each day for emergencies. Grinding can wear your teeth and may cause headaches or jaw pain. We may suggest an NTI night splint, a small splint that stops your back teeth meeting while you sleep, which reduces the force of grinding. It can be fitted in one appointment. See teeth grinding.
