Toothache
A toothache or any dental pain is one of the most common indicators that disease or trauma is present. A number of reasons including inflammation, decayed teeth, infection or trauma may be the cause of your toothache. Dental pain is the most obvious indicator that something is not right and you should consult your dental professional immediately even if the pain subsides. By doing this you give your dentist the best possible chance of saving your tooth for you.
Dental Trauma
Dental trauma is any injury that occurs to the hard tissue (teeth, bone) or soft tissue (gums, tongue). Dental trauma can arise from a small bump to the mouth or from severe impact. All dental trauma is considered an emergency and your dental office should be contacted for advice on managing it.
Some dental trauma may not be noticeable at first but the damage may become apparent months or even years into the future. It is always a good idea to track any dental injuries (even the little bumps).
